Teannaich is a five-member ceilidh band based in Edinburgh , but willing to travel.
Teannaich is a fast and furious Celtic-rock ceilidh band that plays celtic folk music with rock guitar, fast fiddle, and a drum-beat you just can`t help dancing to! Teannaich is based in Edinburgh, but can travel anywhere: in the past we have played ceilidhs in Glasgow, St Andrews, London, Dorset, Amsterdam and St Petersburg. Teannaich`s music is mainly based on traditional Scottish tunes, but there are many weird and wonderful influences thrown in - blues, jazz, rock, and funk all get thrown into the melting pot.
We don't take ourselves or the music too seriously, and basically we aim to give everyone dancing (as well as ourselves) a really good time. You`ll probably end up exhausted, hot, and sweaty, but that`s the whole point of a ceilidh, isn`t it?
Oh, and by the way, we`re loud.

Formed in 1980, Tullochgorum emphasizes the fiddle sound with the traditional upbeat and strict tempo style of the mid-20th-century Scottish and Canadian accordion bands. Three of the band's five members are certificated RSCDS teachers and have a strong affinity and history of playing for dancing. The band members like to explore the boundaries of fanciful tunes, tempos and dynamics with balancing of thought-out arrangements and improvisation. Currently playing with the band are: Barbara McOwen and Anne Hooper, fiddles; Marianne Taylor, piano; Robert McOwen, bass; Paul Henle, drums; Lezlie Webster, pipes.
